Now some Heroes of Newerth players might have noticed they are being kicked from games because of inadequate PSR, or kicking players from their games for low PSR. But what relevance does PSR really have ?
Since each individual player has their own PSR rating one would imagine this rating is based on their individual statistics.
However this is not the case. The rating is based simply on whether or not your team wins or looses.. can anybody see the contradiction ?
We have seen many people with 1900+ PSR and even 2000+, and these players 90% of the time play only in 5 man teams.
PSR scale is relative to the level of the opponents you play against, so you won’t gain any points playing against players with much lower PSR than your teams average.
Therefore, as you get to a certain threshold , around 1800 , you will be playing mainly against 5 man teams. Which, makes it impossible for players to reach a decent rating by themselves.
Is PSR an acceptable measurement of one’s skill ?
